What makes Tonkin Cane truly special is how finely it can be worked. Expert weavers can split this bamboo into threads so thin that 130 of them can fit into a space just 3 centimetres wide!

To make sure these fine accessories last a lifetime, the bamboo goes through a special curing process. After being washed and dried, the stalks are baked in large ovens. This heat allows natural oils to soak deep into the plant's fibres, giving it a stunning, glossy yellow finish. Baking also removes moisture and natural sugars, making the bamboo naturally safe from pests.
